The size of the candy foil depends on the type of chocolate. The size of a chocolate bonbon, bar, or praline is calculated using the same method.
1.Foil size for chocolate bar
For example, a chocolate bar is 12cm long, 7 cm wide, and 0.8 cm high.
The foil wrapper minimum length will be 2 x 7 cm + 2 x 0.8cm=15.6cm
Minimum width will be 12cm + 2 x 0.8cm =13.6cm
So, the foil wrapper size should be bigger than 15.6cm x 13.6cm.
Rectangular chocolates also could use this method to get correct chocolate foil size.
2.Foil size for round chocolates
Knowing the diameter of the chocolate, you can calculate the size of the chocolate foil needed. The calculated is diameter x 3.14. For example, your chocolate diameter is 3cm, 3 cm x 3.14 =9.42cm, which is the length of the chocolate foil wrapper. Your chocolate is round, so the chocolate foil wrapper size needed is 9.42cm x 9.42cm. Then you could cut a piece of paper to try to wrap it to check the size.
3.Foil size of coin chocolate
Coin chocolate is different from other chocolate. It is wrapped in two rolls of chocolate foil, one for the bottom and the other for the cover.
So, learn the diameter and thickness of coin chocolate. You could know the coin foil roll width.
For example, coin chocolate diameter is 5cm and thickness 0.5cm. So, the foil roll width will be 5.5cm(5cm + 0.5cm)
4.The other shape chocolate
For other irregular chocolates, the best approach is to test-wrap the chocolate use the paper, subtract the excess paper, and unfold it to measure the size of the foil needed.
